When your flight runs late to a remote island, the price you paid matters less than who is allowed to move your booking. Book on Booking.com or Agoda and the platform's rules govern your refund and date changes. Book direct and the resort decides.
We see both sides at Reconnect, our eco-resort on Buka Buka Island in the Togean Islands, which takes bookings direct and through both platforms. On platform bookings, the platform's rules apply, and we cannot modify or override its decisions.

What do free cancellation and non-refundable mean on these platforms?
- Booking.com free cancellation: cancel or modify without penalty until the cutoff shown on the rate.
- Booking.com refund policy on non-refundable rates: standard terms allow no refund and no date change.
For an island stay, read the cutoff in any Booking.com cancellation policy against your flight timeline. If your domestic flights are not ticketed when the free window closes, you are holding a non-refundable booking in practice.
Is booking direct cheaper than Booking.com or Agoda?
Direct rates can be lower because of how platforms are paid. Online travel agencies charge properties a commission on each booking.
A property can absorb that cost, build it into the listed price, or offer better terms to direct guests. Rate parity agreements can block that last option by forcing direct prices to match. "Direct is always cheaper" is not a universal rule.
Our guaranteed rate is shown on our own booking page. Displayed rates are for two people on full board:
- Beachfront Glamping Hut or Pyramid: from EUR 60 a night

- Beachfront Villa with AC: from EUR 110. Only some of our rooms have air conditioning, and very few Togean resorts offer it at all.

What happens if a flight or the car transfer runs late?
The no-show rule exists because the trip has a fixed last link. Our daily shuttle leaves our jetty in Tete B at 17:00.
On an OTA booking, the platform's no-show rules apply instead. In genuine force majeure, we try to reschedule the transfer and help move your dates when possible. We cannot guarantee a refund.
Step 1: Book the flight that fits the shuttle
Makassar is the mandatory transit. The arrival that suits the shuttle lands in Luwuk at 11:25 AM.
Step 2: Message us the moment something slips
WhatsApp emergency support runs throughout the journey. Driver details, including a phone number and a photo of driver and vehicle, arrive 24 hours ahead.
Step 3: Know the backups
- The Pegasus speedboat runs day and night as a private charter. The standard open-deck boat runs daytime only.

Step 4: Check the insurance wording
Your policy must cover weather disruptions, illness, injuries, evacuation and cancellations for any reason.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I pay on arrival at Reconnect?
No. Direct bookings are paid in full when you book, through our Cloudbeds page by Visa, Mastercard or Amex, or by bank transfer or WISE on request via WhatsApp.
Which currency will I be charged in?
Final pricing is in IDR, and card payments are processed in IDR. EUR figures are indicative at roughly 1 EUR to 20,000 IDR, and rates follow demand. We also accept EUR and USD.
Is a date change easier in low season?
Sometimes. Low-season flexibility is discretionary and depends on availability, so ask early.
Do group bookings or a full-resort buyout follow the same rules?
Not necessarily. Terms may be agreed separately, and only written agreements are binding.
