Two Weeks, Two Islands: Pairing Bali With the Togean Islands for a 2026 Indonesia Honeymoon

Reconnect Team ·

On an Indonesia honeymoon, the remote second island on the wish list often looks impossible to reach. It isn't.

Put the Togean Islands between two Bali stays, fly in through Luwuk, and leave a buffer between your island exit and your flight home.

We coordinate the Luwuk Airport transfer for every couple staying with us in the Togeans. That means we see which honeymoon plans hold together and which ones unravel on the first travel day.

TL;DR

  • Travel day: Bali to the Togeans takes 8-10 hours door to door, via Makassar and Luwuk.
  • Minimum stay: plan at least 5 days in the Togeans, because day one is always travel [togean.com].
  • Where to stay: Togean Islands accommodation at Reconnect starts from EUR 60 a night for two with all meals. We are one of the very few resorts in the islands with air-conditioned villas.

How should you split two weeks between Bali and the Togean Islands?

Put the Togeans in the middle. The islands sit in the Gulf of Tomini, part of Tojo Una-Una Regency in Central Sulawesi. Bali works best as the soft landing before the trip and the safety margin after it.

Block Nights Base Why it sits here
Bali, part one 3 Ubud or the hills Recover from the long-haul flight before another travel day
Togean Islands 7 One island Arrival and departure days are travel, leaving six full days on the water
Bali, part two 3 South coast, near the airport Absorbs any delay on the return leg, with a short ride to your international flight

Togean.com suggests seven days if you want to cover two islands [togean.com]. For a honeymoon, keep one base. Every island change costs part of a day in packing and boat transfers.

How do you get from Bali to the Togean Islands?

Luwuk has always been the main gateway from Bali. The only other reliable way in is via Gorontalo.

Step 1: Bali to Makassar

The flight takes about 90 minutes. There is no direct flight from Bali or Jakarta to Luwuk, so Makassar is the mandatory transit.

Step 2: Makassar to Luwuk

Wings Air and AirAsia fly this leg. Aim to land at 11:25.

If no same-day connection from Bali gets you there in time, spend a night in Makassar.

Step 3: Luwuk to Ampana by road

The drive takes about 5 hours in an air-conditioned private car run by independent operators and billed separately.

We send the driver's phone number and a photo of driver and vehicle 24 hours before you land.

Step 4: Ampana to the island

Our free shuttle leaves our jetty in Tete B, Ampana, at 17:00 daily and takes 30-45 minutes.

Outside that slot you charter a boat. The open-deck boat runs in daylight only; the Pegasus speedboat runs day and night.

What can go wrong on the travel day?

Land at 11:25, add five hours of road, and you reach the jetty just before the boat leaves. A later flight breaks the chain.

You either charter a boat or sleep in Ampana, where we recommend hotels.

If a third-party delay makes you miss the boat, the booking counts as a no-show. Travel insurance is mandatory for every stay.

The return shuttle leaves the island at 10:00. Never book your flight home from Bali for the same day.

What Togean Islands accommodation works best for a honeymoon?

After a full day of travel, the room you choose shapes the week. At Reconnect on Buka Buka Island, three villa types have air conditioning and the rest are fan-cooled.

Book an AC villa early if heat is a dealbreaker.

Room From, per night for two, full board Cooling Honeymoon note
Sunset Villa EUR 80 Fan Bungalow with an expansive deck, hot water
Beachfront Villa with AC EUR 110 AC Most popular, semi-outdoor bathroom
Villa Athena EUR 175 AC Most spacious, two bedrooms
Villa Togean EUR 200 AC Two-bedroom beachfront villa, veranda with hammock

Rates include buffet meals, afternoon tea, Starlink Wi-Fi, kayaks, paddleboards, snorkel gear and the boat shuttle. Taxes and service charges are included.

Diving, the Luwuk car, alcohol and laundry cost extra.

The house reef wall drops away 200 meters from the beach into 27-30°C water with visibility averaging about 30 meters.

There is no nightlife, and massages are listed as coming soon. Book an Overwater Dining evening for the special night.

The resort runs on 93% solar power, desalinates all its own water, uses no single-use plastics and hires staff locally.
